Cinnamon Rolls:

  1. Cinnamon Rolls:

Ingredients: Dough:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg

Filling:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it is warm but not boiling. Remove from heat and stir in the melted butter.

  2. In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Pour in the milk mixture and add the egg. Stir until a soft dough forms.

  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, adding additional flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 12x16 inches.

  6. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the butter.

  7. Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll the dough into a log shape.

  8. Cut the log into 12 equal-sized rolls. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving a small gap between each roll.

  9. Cover the baking dish with a clean towel and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.

  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  11. While the rolls are baking, prepare the frosting. In a bowl, cream together the softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.

  12. Remove the cinnamon rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly. Drizzle the frosting over the warm rolls before serving.
